Photos of the Bathroom

Here's what the bathroom looked like when we got there.  You can see a bit of the "tiling" that will eventually be put on the floor. Low on the priority list right now.

Yuck - more yellow!  This time it's the shower stall.  Did I mention that yellow is my least favorite color?  However, the walls are now painted a nice, light lavender as well as the hummingbird stencils on the walls.  The ceiling is still a cruddy off white, smoky color.

Here I'm busy grinding the white color into the ceiling.  It was the only way to get the color on there, since it was so textured.

You can see this wolf from the hallway and it took me quite a while to get used to it, as I kept thinking it was one of the cats.  Normally I don't have stuffed animals in the bathroom, however when it was all painted, I felt it needed something to make it more friendly.  It had been brought over from the storage unit and needed a place to go.  There it went and he hasn't moved since.  The material behind him covers up the small closet that is wadded full of stuff.  Note the two different colors of trim used around the frame.  Those are the two colors Renee used on the hummingbird stencils.

Here's the view looking into the bathroom.  Real exciting, huh?  HA!  Note the two cat tiles on the wall.  I've had those for years and years, purchased from Avon.  Also note the hummingbird stencils randomly painted on the walls.  Renee did a great job with them.

Here's what it looks like with the new floor tiling.  Linoleum tiles that stick on.  It took hours for the pour-on adhesive to dry up enough to stick the tiles down, but once Dirk started doing that, it didn't take too long as most of the tiles were already cut up by Mark.

And now the new vanity is in place, complete with new sink.  When Dirk went to the hardware store for the new faucet, he called to see if I wanted a new vanity, which we hadn't planned on.  Of course I did!  That old one was small and ratty and the cabinet handles would always pinch my fingers when I'd open the doors.  The bathroom door doesn't open all the way, but that's okay as there's still room to get through just fine.

The new vanity is about a foot longer than the old one, so it takes up quite a bit of room in there.  The drain hadn't worked for over 8 years and Dirk tried snaking it clear, but he wasn't able to.  The plumber was and $155 later the drain was working and we can start using it the way it's supposed to be.  As in, washing our hands and brushing our teeth, which had to be done out in the kitchen previously.  I'm excited!

This is the most popular use for the sink.  The cats love their new watering hole and love the fact there's more room than there was before.

At the watering hole is Jack (in back), Boris (facing camera) and Rocky (grey tabby).  If the cats hear you in the bathroom, or if they think you're going in there, they race down the hall to be the first at the watering hole.  Jack will even open the door if we've had the gall to close it on him.  He's the only cat that can open the door, fortunately.  And if we forget to fill up the sink, Boris will yowl at you until you fill it.  Can we say spoiled?

Update:  Dirk put an opening in the door so the cats can come back and forth quite easily.  We finally gave up on their water obsession and the water bowls are now in there as well, next to the small closet. The plush wolf has been moved into the stamp room.  Also, the room has since been painted a color that goes better with the floor tiles.  We also removed the large, hotel style mirror and medicine cabinet.  Two new medicine cabinets came from Ikea (where else!) and the mirror was my mom's.  Photos will up uploaded later.
